一、考点定位与做题顺序
并列连词连的是「两个同类成分」。not only…but also 最常考：A 是名词短语，B 也得是名词短语；A 是形容词，B 也得是形容词。不是看两边意思像不像，是看语法成分对不对得上。

not only…but also 三处：useful/affordable 同为形容词、clearly/confidently 同为副词、a writer/a teacher 同为名词短语 → 3 处。either…or 三处（二选一）→ 3 处；neither…nor 三处（两者皆非）→ 3 处；both…and 三处（两者皆是）→ 3 处。合计 3+3+3+3=12 闭合。
「not only the data but also the method」里谓语随最近的主语 method 走（就近一致），所以单数 is revised。这不是平行结构本身的要求，而是并列主语的谓语一致规则；两层别混。平行要求的是 the data 与 the method 同为名词短语，这一条已满足。
判据再验：把 A、B 单独抄出来，看能不能被同一个词类标签盖住；盖不住就是平行失败。
